Service Management and Evaluation Sub-Committee

Of the Local Business Planning Committee

October 14, 2002

MINUTES

PRESENT:

Debbie Jenkins, Child and Family Services Director, CCMHC

       Densie Lucas, Assistant Area Director

       Terry Eads, MIS Director, CCMHC

Dr. Sylvia Branson Ellis, Psychological Services Director, CCMHC

Chris Dempster, Roxie Avenue Center Administrator, CCMHC

Stacy Martin, Clerk to the Area Board, CCMHC

Alice Smith, Peterkin & Associates and IPA

        Alfred Spriggs, L.I.F.E. Concepts

·          Ms. Smith asked if there was anything else that providers can be doing to help with the process.

·          CCMHC staff attempted to telephone a few other providers in the community who normally come to these meetings to see if they were planning on coming today..

·          CCMHC staff talked about networking they are doing with other area programs to share ideas and information with the LBP development process.

·          Ms. Smith asked if it was possible that CCMHC would model themselves like some other LME models who are contracting with just a few large providers as opposed to many smaller ones.  Mrs. Jenkins shared Dr. Visingardi’s vision which is to have providers join together to share resources.  CCMHC has not determined the make up of its provider network as of yet.

·          There was comment that some of the smaller providers may not have the infrastructure to qualify for the network based on some of the reporting requirements, etc.

·          Ms. Smith commented that the task of getting providers to band together is going to be necessary but difficult.

·          Ms. Smith commented that she is involved with other area programs and their LME process and that it has been interesting to see how some of them are handling this process.  Many are hiring consultants who are doing all of the business planning for them.  Some counties have small groups of people (with very little community involvement) who are meeting much less frequently than CCMHC.

·          Ms. Klumper will be emailing the matrix to Mrs. Jenkins.

·          Mr. Spriggs brought in a client survey utilized at BHC (See ATTACHMENT A).

·          There was discussion about using interns or Master’s candidates at local colleges who need to complete a project/thesis to help with computer/technology needs.

-    Ms. Smith will have Mr. Gloston come in as a representative from their organization as he is their computer “resident expert.”

V.        Adjournment

The meeting adjourned with the next meeting scheduled for Monday, October 21st  at 8:30 in the morning.

·         Will look at the matrix and fill in more gaps.

·         Will look at Satisfaction Survey.
