Cumberland
County Mental Health Center's Medical Services
MEDICAL SERVICES at Cumberland County Mental Health
consists of physicians and nurses who provide evaluation
and treatment to patients of the Center. The Medical
Services also provides Community Education and
Consultation on topics related to mental health, mental
illness, substance abuse and developmental disabilities.
Medical Services attend patients at almost all of our
Center's locations, but are concentrated at the Bradford
Avenue Center to see adults, while children, teenagers and
their families are seen at the Child and Family Services
Center. Our physicians staff the Roxie Avenue Center, a
crisis stabilization and detoxification center managed
completely by the Center. The physicians provide evening
clinic hours as well as emergency coverage to the Cape
Fear Valley Emergency Department, and to patients of the
Center at Behavioral Health Care of Cape Fear Valley
Health System.
In order to qualify for care at the Center, an individual
must be suffering from a mental illness, have a diagnosed
problem with abusing substances, or have a significant
developmental disability.
Patients who suffer mental illnesses need much support and
many services outside the narrow confines of medical care.
These services are provided by other departments working
as a team within the Center, in consultation with the
Medical Services, and are an invaluable benefit to our
patients, without which many of them could not maintain
themselves independently, or with their families, in our
community.
The Mental
Health Center is a community service agency that plans,
coordinates, and provides mental health, developmental
disabilities, and substance abuse services. The Center
offers a full continuum of care, educational and
prevention services to all citizens of Cumberland County.
The Center is located at 109 Bradford Avenue,
Fayetteville, NC 28301. The primary telephone number is
(910) 323-0601.
