Substance Abuse Services
The Substance Abuse Program consists of six service
components: Consultation
and Education (C&E), Family Recovery
Services (FRS), Driving While Impaired (DWI) and Treatment
Alternatives to Street Crime (TASC).
C&E: serves as the community outreach services
to both public and private sectors of the community.
Program goals are to promote public awareness of mental
health issues and to provide prevention training services.
Prevention services are offered to churches, schools,
businesses, public and private agencies, organizations and
groups. Some specialized services offered include
community development, impact and outcome evaluation,
parent education, health/service fairs and smoking
cessation clinics.
FRS: the outpatient treatment component, offers
assessments, evaluations, education, crisis intervention,
case management, outreach, individual, group and family
counseling services and/or intensive outpatient programs
for adolescent (ages 13-18) and adult substance abusers.
Specialized services are offered to substance abusing
women and their children.
DWI Services: consists of substances abuse
assessments, education, and treatment. Individuals referred
from the court are required to receive an assessment. If
the assessment does not reveal a substance abuse problem,
the individual is required to attend a twelve (12) hour
education class. If the assessment indicates problematic
drinking/drug use, the offender is referred to treatment.
TASC: offers substance abusing offenders who are on
probation or parole an opportunity to participate in a
treatment program as an alternative to incarceration.
Participants are offered screenings, assessments,
evaluations, crisis intervention, case management,
individual/group/family counseling, referral, intensive
outpatient program, aftercare step-down program and
follow-up services.
