Cumberland County Mental Health is now accepting
applications for our graduate level clinical
internship program for the fall semester. All
internships require a commitment of 16-24 hours
per week over the course of the academic
semester. The selection process is competitive
with preference give to culturally competent
second year students with a strong foundation in
psychopathology and counseling techniques.
Positions are unpaid. Interns are required to
secure and maintain malpractice insurance
throughout the duration of the program. Weekly
individual and group supervision are provided by
experienced licensed staff. Interns may be
required to participate in monthly in-service
trainings.
This
internship provides an opportunity to work with
a wide variety of clients and respond to a range
of presenting problems. The internship allows
for collaborative work with a multidisciplinary
team of psychiatrists, psychologists,
counselors, clinical social workers and care
coordinators. Potential placement sites include
Adult Services, Child and Youth Services, and
Cumberland County Detention Center. Applicants
with bilingual skills or proficiency in American
Sign Language are encouraged to apply.

one work reference and an academic writing
sample. Interns must pass a pre-employment drug
screen, and criminal background check.
