Description of Duties:
The primary purpose of this
position is to provide specialized services to
hearing impaired/deaf/hard-of-hearing children
and adolescents who are having behavioral
problems or who are seriously emotionally
disturbed. The individual in this position will
be proficient in American Sign Language (ASL),
will provide individual/group/family therapy,
treatment consultations to families/significant
others, behavior management, crises
intervention/management for assigned case load,
diagnostic assessments and evaluations of the
population served. This position serves as a
consultant and trainer on the adult deaf/hearing
impaired/hard-of-hearing population for the LME
region that encompasses Cumberland, Sandhills,
and Southeastern Regional Center – 11 counties.
This position interfaces with community provider
agencies that provide services to the deaf
population and performs other duties as
assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master’s degree from an
accredited school of social work and licensed as
a Clinical Social Worker by the North Carolina
Social Work Certification and Licensure Board;
or Master’s degree from an accredited school of
counseling and the necessary supervised
counseling experience as required by the
appropriate NC Counselor Licensing Board.
Licensed to practice as a Counselor as required
by the appropriate NC Counselor Licensing Board.
Must
be proficient in American Sign Language and very
knowledgeable of the deaf culture.
Other
Requirements:
Applicants must have a current,
valid North Carolina driver's license with a
safe driving record and must maintain a safe
driving record throughout employment; a physical
examination; and official college transcripts
upon hire. Pre-employment drug testing is
required for all positions with Cumberland
County Mental Health. Reference
checks/background checks will be conducted on
the top candidates. Some positions require
employee to be certified in North Carolina
Interventions (NCI).
