Description of Duties:
The primary purpose of this position is to
expedite first-time and episodic consumers obtain
the right amount of service, in the right
frequency, at the right time. The Care Manager
has primary responsibility for helping consumers
admitted to state facilities and providers
identify and interact with resources that can
effectively address consumer needs. The Care
Manager uses established utilization management
and utilization review guidelines to positively
impact the quality, efficiency and effectiveness
of interventions, from initial contact to
discharge. For those consumers with high need –
high cost plans the care manager assists providers
in the development of and initiation of person
centered plans and provides technical assistance
related to utilization issues.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master’s degree from an accredited school of
social work and licensed as a Clinical Social
Worker by the North Carolina Social Work
Certification and Licensure Board; or Master’s
degree from an accredited school of counseling and
the necessary supervised counseling experience as
required by the appropriate NC Counselor Licensing
Board. Licensed to practice as a Counselor as
required by the appropriate NC Counselor Licensing
Board; or Master’s degree in psychology and
eighteen months of professional experience.
Necessary Requirements:
Must be licensed as a Clinical Social Worker,
Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed
Psychological Associate.
Other Requirements:
Applicants must have a current,
valid North Carolina driver's license with a safe
driving record and must maintain a safe driving
record throughout employment; a physical
examination; and official college transcripts upon
hire. Pre-employment drug testing is required for
all positions with Cumberland County Mental
Health. Reference checks/background checks will
be conducted on the top candidates. Some
positions require employee to be certified in
North Carolina Interventions (NCI).
